Multi-stakeholder forum on the restitution of the COP 27 and the launching of the preparation of the COP 28

Under the patronage of the Ministry in charge of the Environment, several Cameroonian civil society organizations took part this Friday, February 3, 2023 at Djeuga Palace Hotel in Yaounde, in a multi-stakeholder forum on COP 27 and 28.

The overall objective of the forum was to review the COP 27 held in November 2022 in Egypt, and to launch the participation of Cameroon, particularly that of non-governmental actors, in the upcoming COP 28.

The opening of the Forum was chaired by Prof. BRING, Director of Resource Management and Conservation at MINEPDED and representative of Minister HELE Pierre for this occasion. He was joined by the Director General of the National Observatory on Climate Change (ONACC) and the Executive Director of the African Coalition for Sustainable Energy and Access (ACSEA).

Among the topics discussed during the various presentations and brainstorming sessions were: the main outcomes of COP 27, their implications at the national, regional and global levels; the lessons to be learned from COP 27 by non-governmental actors, their role and strategies; the main challenges of climate change in Cameroon and prospects; the key priorities of Cameroon at COP 27 as well as at the upcoming COP 28

As a reminder, the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (COP28) is scheduled to take place in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) from 3 November to 12 December 2023.

This multi-stakeholder forum is organised by ACSEA in collaboration with other non-governmental groups and entities.
